What does a paintball feel like?

Paintballs are pressurized, so they move through the air at high speeds. These balls can shoot up to 300 feet per second. Once the paintball hits its target, it will shatter and release a splat of color on your skin as well as your clothes.

This means that even though paintballs go fast, you’ll feel the impact of the ball on your skin and clothes. While this may sound like it would hurt a lot, we understand if you still want to play paintball even after hearing that.

What is the sensation of getting hit by a paintball like?

The paintballs feel like little wet sponges hitting your skin. It stings a bit, but not too much; after all, it is just paint. If you get shot by a paintball on thin clothing like t-shirts and shorts, the sting will be worse than if you were to get hit with thicker clothes on. You may also feel the paint on your clothes, but it will come right off with a little water.

If you’re playing in a particularly cold area, you may notice some stinging on your skin because of how small and sharp the frozen paintballs are. If this happens to you while wearing gloves, try wearing thicker gloves for more protection from the cold.

How does it feel when a paintball hits you?

The feeling of getting hit by a paintball varies depending on what you’re wearing.

Wearing thinner clothing like t-shirts and shorts will make the impact sharper, almost like it is stinging your skin. Wearing thicker clothing like sweaters or jackets can dull the impact of getting shot by a ball.

If you are dressed in light layers, you’ll feel the paintballs hitting your skin one after another. If you are dressed in thick layers, you may only feel one or two paintballs before it doesn’t hurt anymore.

Getting hit by a frozen paintball will cause more pain compared to getting hit by a typical ball because of how sharp it is. For extra protection from the cold, try wearing gloves.

How do you react when you get hit by a paintball?

When a paintball hits you, it may take a few seconds for the pain to set in. You’ll likely grimace from the sting, and you should definitely rub the spot where you were hit. This will help your skin recover from getting hit.

If you’re playing with others, be sure to say “Hit.” or “You got me.” so your team knows not to shoot you for a few seconds.

If someone on the other team got you, do NOT say “I’m out” as it is considered cheating. This rule exists so that people can’t just wander around and get free shots on players from another team.

What is the best way to avoid getting hit by a paintball?

This is a question with two answers: if you’re the one getting shot at, then making yourself a smaller target is key. Get low and crouch down behind any obstacles that you can find (tree stumps, rocks, benches). If you’re on a team playing against another team, stick with your teammates and follow them closely. This will make it harder for the other team to get you on their own.

If you’re on a team, try using your paintball mask so that there is one more obstacle between you and the opposing team. This will not only protect your eyes but also add another layer of defense to your face.

Paintball masks can fog up if you wear them inside and outside, so be sure to take them off at home and wear a hat instead.

What should you wear when playing paintball?

Wearing the right clothes really depends on where you’re playing paintball. If it’s cold outside, for instance, your clothes should keep you warm. Layering is always a good idea to ensure that even if one layer gets paint splattered on it, your other layers will stay safe.

Some clothing items you could wear include:

  • Full-length pants. These can protect your legs from paintballs and prevent any splatter from ruining your clothes.
  • Full-length sleeves. This is especially recommended if it’s cold outside, as they’ll keep your arms warm and prevent them from becoming stained by paint.
  • Shoes with thick soles. While the paintballs won’t hurt your feet, having thick shoes will make sure you don’t slip on any paint splatters.
  • A hat. Even if your head is covered by a mask, wearing a hat can also prevent splatter from ruining it.

While these are some good suggestions for what to wear when playing paintball, remember that no paintball experience is complete without a mask and some form of protection. Remember to bring your own mask and protective gear if you plan on playing paintball.

Now you know what it feels like to be hit by a paintball and know what clothes to wear when playing. With all of this information in mind the next time you play paintball it will be a more enjoyable experience. As always, remember to wear your protective gear and have fun.
